This tutorial was written using PSP 7, but can be done is PSP 8 or 9

Watermarking your tags, stationery or even your screenshots is simple and easy.  There are many tutorials on watermarking...but this is how I do mine.

Open a 400x400 new Image.  Flood fill with white. We do this so that we can see our watermark...to know if we have the right coloring as well as the right drop shadow.

Pick a font (many people pick what they call a signature font...meaning a font there watermarks are known for.) once you have the font you want.  Use these settings...Make sure Selections & Antialias is checked.

We want to make our watermark large...but not to large since we will be converting it to a tube and resizing as needed later.

Click ok.  You should now see the marching ants

Add a new raster layer...

Now go up to effects, drop shadow...and use these settings, color black.

Selections None.  This is your basic watermark.

On your layer palette click on your watermark layer and drag it to your work area like so...

You should now have just your watermark with a transparent background.

Go up to file....Export,  Picture tube.

Name and save your watermark.

Your watermark will now be available to use with your tube brush.

Click on your tube brush, then tool options...find your watermark by clicking on the down arrow button to the right. Scroll down until you find your watermark (tubes should be listed alphabetically)

Change the scale of your watermark as needed.

Below you can see the watermark scaled in 25% increments, starting with scale 25 and on up to 100... of course mine have been compressed..so they don't look as crisp as they really are.

I also change the color of my drop shadow to accommodate what I am watermarking.  Notice below when I used the black for my watermark on a colored background...it looks kind of muddy....but when I save it using a dark red....it blends much better.

Colored drop shadows look great on a white background as well...here I used a dark blue.  I did this for the header of this tut too.. just to give you an idea.

Some People watermark things with a symbol....I have one with a ladybug...you can save these as well and scale them as needed.

Make your watermark something people will remember you by....  Whether it be your name... a symbol, whatever.  One of our members always puts a logo on her tags, not her name.  I belong to many groups...but when I see the watermarking Treasured Tags....I know who the creator is :o)  She does amazing tags....below is one she made for me...and I love it!  I hope this tutorial has answered some of your questions.  Again if you have anything you are wanting to learn more about...please let me know and I will write a tutorial.

Hugs, Glenda...aka Ladybug
